Hunter Morris

Hunter began fly fishing as a child in much the same way as his father Carter (also a guide for Unicoi Outfitters, above at left), catching bass and bream on popper flies. As he grew older his interest turned to fly fishing the rivers and creeks of north Georgia for trout. By the time he was attending college at the University of Georgia, Hunter had developed such an interest in the sport that he decided to take each of his summers off from college classes to go and fish the trout streams of the western U.S. He spent a summer in Vail, CO, and a summer in Jackson Hole, WY, and then ended up relocating to Jackson Hole for two more years after college.

But even after hundreds of days on Western trout streams, he always knew he'd end up back in Georgia fishing the streams he loves most. He's spent the last 8 plus years since his return from Wyoming guiding fly fishing trips all across north Georgia, and the last year and a half as a guide for Unicoi Outfitters.

Hunter is also a musician in Athens, Georgia, and his passion for music closely rivals that of his love for fly fishing. Hunter explains this relationship. "I feel like there are a lot of similarities between experiencing a day on the river and attending a concert. When I take people out for a day of fly fishing, I want them to leave with memories that we made together and that they will never forget. Much like listening to a really good record and reminiscing about hearing those songs live, I want people to always be able to look back at a photograph from our trip together and be able to escape back to that moment."
