Nacoochee Bend

Nacoochee Bend was Unicoi Outfitters' first trophy trout stream, and continues to be one of our most popular North Georgia private fishing destinations, having been featured on many national television programs on various outdoors networks and ESPN.

Flowing from the mountains of Northeast Georgia, the cold, clear waters of the Chattahoochee River at Nora Mills have been closed to public fishing for over 75 years. Through an exclusive offering by Unicoi Outfitters, a limited number of anglers can fly fish for the trophy trout in the Nacoochee Bend section of the Chattahoochee River at Nora Mills. With a mile and a half of stream available, you can fish all day without fishing the same water twice.

The private, mile and a half section of the Chattahoochee River is located just one and a half hours from Atlanta and offers year-round fly fishing for trophy rainbow and brown trout.

While for best results we recommend fishing with a guide, Nacoochee Bend is our only private trophy stream available for self-guided fishing. All fishing is fly fishing only, and must be done with a single barbless hook, and all fish must be released unharmed. Nacoochee Bend is wherethe Gilligan Special originated, and is the stream on which we usually conduct these tours.
