Recently Unicoi Outfitters guide Butch Martin had a float trip with Steve Bolton, when this monster 25” brown took a woolly bugger stripped across stream. Steve was using a 7 wt. rod with sink tip line. Now that’s trophy hunting right there!

Here's some really exciting news regarding our trophy fishing opportunities. Unicoi Outfitters has just partnered with some friends who own two miles of Mountaintown Creek just outside of Ellijay to offer guided trips there. This section of stream is beautiful and full of big fish. For as long as the family has owned it (several generations), the fishing pressure has been light to almost non-existent. Some family and a few fortunate friends are all that have had the privilege to experience this special stream.
This hidden gem of a stream has everything from typical mountain laurel confined runs to beautiful meadows that look like something right out of Montana. Plunge pools to pocket water, bottomless holes and meandering bends all make for a fishing experience hard to duplicate anywhere. The really great asset to this stream is it’s accessibility from metro Atlanta. Whether you’re driving up from Marietta or the airport, there isn’t an easier-to-access trophy stream available in the state. We welcome you to come up to our shop in Blue Ridge but if you’re on a time schedule or just want to save on gas costs, our guides will be more than happy to make arrangements to meet you in Ellijay for the 5 minute drive out to the farm.
